Why Children’s Story Books?
Michelle chose the creative platform of children’s storybooks to engage her target audience. Aligning with the principles of Jungian psychology, important messages within the pages of her books are intended to flood the subconscious minds of children.
A child’s critical thinking does not begin to emerge until around the age of eight, which means that prior to this time, everything they hear, see, feel, experience, observe and read, is assimilated directly into the subconscious mind, without analysis, as fact. Content from the subconscious mind may lay ‘dormant’ and not shift into conscious awareness for years; particularly in the case of children who are in the early developmental stages of life.
Children’s story books also deliver a unique opportunity for positive, shared experience and connection with parents, grandparents, carers, teachers and significant others, who are integral in shaping and moulding a young person’s psyche. They are readily accessible and foster enjoyment, awareness and creative thinking.
